Jedd
- Male Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog
- Date of Birth: 16th August 2022
- Adoption Fee: $450
- Size: Medium
- Microchip number: 956000011320835
- Source Number: RE100027 Attention all heeler lovers! If you’re on the lookout for a lively and energetic companion to accompany you on life’s adventures look no further. Jedd is ready for his forever person to call his own.
- Jedd didn’t have an easy start in life, and came into our care as a cautious and reserved pup. In his foster home he has blossomed into an awesome companion thanks to the love, patience and encouragement from his foster mum. He is now ready for his own home where his people will continue to help build his confidence, further his training, and expose him to the vast world around him. Here’s the Jedd rundown.
- -- Favorite Activities --
- * Fetch!!!
- * Hanging out with his people and dog companions, and being part of the family.
- * Playing with his doggo friends. He loves fun, cheeky and active antics with other active dogs.
- * Exploring the world. Walking, hiking, running, wandering, sniffing. He’s a great companion on your daily exercise.
- -- How Jedd feels about people --
- * Like most Heelers, Jedd can be wary of strangers and reserved when meeting people for the first time. Give him space and time to come around on his terms and he soon puts on the charm.
- * With his own people he is devoted and loyal – a true Velcro dog. He loves cuddles, snuggles, smooches and boops. He’ll follow you forever, sometimes bordering on space invader.
- * He can be afraid of some men, nervous around groups of strangers and anxious in new situations. He wants, and needs, his person to be calm and confident so that he feels safe and protected.
- * He thrives on routine and boundaries, relaxing when he knows he doesn’t have to take care of anyone or anything.
- * Jedd’s ideal home is a calm and quiet environment, where there’s not a lot of people coming and going and he can practice being relaxed and carefree.
- -- How Jedd feels about dogs --
- * Jedd is a social butterfly who loves engaging with other dogs sharing his space with them.
- * He loves enthusiastic play incorporating zoomies, bitey-face and some wrestling. He picks up social cues well and adapts to most play styles of other dogs.
- * He thinks it would be awesome to have a compatible doggy mate in his forever home. He would love to have a playmate of similar size and energy.
- -- Jedd’s manners and needs --
- * Jedd is crate trained. The crate is his safe space, where he has downtime and where he can escape when feeling overwhelmed. He loves his crate and wants one in his forever home.
- * He’s a superstar on lead, most of the time. He walks nicely and is not at all fussed when other dogs pass by.
- * He loves adventure and variety in his exercise. He hopes his forever people are active outdoors types so that he can be a companion on hikes, runs or other fun stuff.
- * He’s a good boy around other dogs, saying hi then returning to his people.
- * He comes when called most of the time. His recall improves significantly if there’s the promise of a game of fetch on offer.
- * He has the basics down – ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘bed’, and ‘shake’. He’s working on ‘wait’, although his bum wiggles with excitement when he’s sitting waiting for his dinner.
- * Inside the home he takes the job of welcoming party very seriously. It’s taking a while for him to appreciate calm greetings but he’s working on it. After the initial excitement, he will settle down with the other dogs or play with his toys.
- * Jedd has learned to relax and will happily sit in front of the fire once the house is peaceful. He can be a little sneaky and may look for treats on the kitchen bench, but he is easily directed down.
- * He is fully house-trained and quickly learned to use the doggy door with the help of his foster siblings.
- * Car travel was once a terrifying nightmare for Jedd. Now he loves car rides, eagerly jumping in and settling for the ride.
- -- Jedd’s ideal home --
- * Jedd would love someone home more often than not or a good playmate to hang out with.
- * Calm, confident and understanding adults preferably who have experience with working breeds.
- * No young kids. That’s just too much stimulation for this sensitive boy.
- * No cats, no free ranging chooks, no pocket pets unless you’re prepared to put in the work to train him to behave around them.
- * A playmate of similar size and energy would be his dream come true.
- Jedd comes with:
- - Temperament assessment
- - Relevant health documentation
- - 2 week trial period with text and email support
- - Lifetime return policy

Maverick ticks all the boxes for his breed. He's larger than life, bold and feisty. He loves his people and is known to spring into your lap without invite or warning. He's a man of action and is often on the go looking for his latest adventure or mischief. At the end of the day he'll snuggle up with his person for some cuddles and chill time.
Maverick can be wary and scared around strangers. He prefers to get to know you in his own time before he's comfortable with getting up close and personal. It's what Chihuahuas do. Once he knows and trusts you he's more than happy with being picked up, cuddled, patted, and handled. Vet visits and trips to the groomer are particularly stressful for him and so he will need to be familiarised with his new practitioners before he needs any treatment. He isn't suited to a home with young children and needs his adults to be responsible with him when meeting strangers.
Maverick can be bosy and demanding of other dogs. He loves wrestling and playing and expects his doggy companions to be willing participants. He also doesn't like taking no for an answer even when told off by the other dog. Bigger dogs he approaches like most Chihuahuas do - he pretends he's much bigger and likes to tell them off. Honestly we don't think any Chihuahuas should frequent off-lead dog parks but Mav definitely shouldn't be put in that kind of situation. He's safer and happier going for walks and playing in the yard. As far as cats are concerned he's not a fan.
Mav is just starting to learn his good boi manners and can be a little stubborn when it comes to following the rules. He's a work in progress. For the first year of his life he was misunderstood, poorly handled and missed out on healthy direction and boundaries. He has already learnt that being with people can be safe and having a routine makes him happier. He enjoys car rides and exploring on walks and is getting the hang of his toilet training.
Maverick needs a home with active people who are keen to train him and support him as he gains trust and confidence during stressful times. He would like a doggy playmate but only if they are as eager to wrestle as he is. More than anything he just wants to feel safe and loved.
